Tor Hildyard, BA Hons

Tor studied Illustration and Printmaking at Kent Institute of Art and Design, Maidstone, where she then continued to work, both as tutor and printmaking technician until 2003. She also works as a tutor in Adult Education, and runs her own private printmaking courses from her house in Kent.

Tor exhibits her work, both Nationally and Internationally, and has been involved in a number of charity events, including ‘Cow Parade’, a public arts event that took place all over London to raise money for Child Line, painting ‘The Ritz cow’ for the Ritz Hotel, and ‘Essential British Kit’, for Hacketts., as well as submitting postcards to ‘Secrets’ at the RCA, a yearly event that raises money for bursaries for their students.

Tor’s subject matter is drawn from her imagination and from life, depicting humour in addition to straightforward studies of animals and humans. She covers all the main processes involved in printmaking; etching, lithography, silkscreen and lino, often combining more than one method. Tor’s paintings also depict human interaction, her figures often coming from ancient sculptures and drawings.
