Monoprints and Monotypes

Monoprint
Has a matrix to print from, be it a drawing underneath the perspex printing plate or an actual made plate and therefore can be produced again in different variations, but each one will be different, due the changes and additions that take place during the printing process . It can have many layers with many mixed media techniques added as well as complete colour changes. For example my Animal Monoprints, which start off with a stencil.
Monotype
Is a one off print and can never be repeated. It is often made by painting directly onto the plate with printing inks which can then be rolled ,wiped or even sprinkled with white spirit to gain the original effect that is needed. It can have multiple layers with the addition of mixed media techniques. For example my landscapes, which are painted directly onto the plate.
